Marina Traykova graduated the Higher Institute of Architecture and Construction (VIAS), now University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG), Sofia, Bulgaria in 1983, MSc in structural engineering. In 1991 she became PhD in "Civil Engineering Structures - Reinforced Concrete Structures” in the same Univesrsity.
Until 1997, she practiced as a designer, an activity that continues to this day. Since 1997 Marina Traykova has been admitted to UACEG, Department of Reinforced Concrete Structures. Since 2014 she is a full Professor in the same department. Marina Traykova has more than 60 publications in national and international journals and conferences. She published a monograph on rehabilitation and strengthening of buildings. Author and co-author of several books and manuals, including editions in English. Member of FIB (Féderation Internationale du Béton).
Member of IABSE (International Association of Bridge and Structural Engineering). Member and Vice-Chairman of the Task Group “Construction History for Design” of IABSE. Member of the Task Group “Earthquake Resistant Structures” of IABSE. Co-founder and Chairman of the National Group of IABSE in Bulgaria. Member of the Chamber of Engineers in the Investment Design, Bulgaria (full design capability license and license for technical supervising of Structural projects)
From 2014 Member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Civil Engineering and Architecture. Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the First Scientific Applied Conference with International Participation “Rehabilitation and Strengthening of Buildings and Facilities Structures”/RSBS2015/, November 2015, Sofia, Bulgaria. Member of the Scientific Committee of the IABSE Conferences in Nantes, 2018 and New York, 2019.
